The astrology behind Astral by Santi

So why do my signs look different?

If you opened your letter or reading and thought, “Wait, I thought I was a different sign,” you are definitely not the only one. Nothing is wrong with your birth information. You are simply seeing your chart through a different astrological system.

Let me explain it simply
First things first

Your chart did not suddenly change.

I use Vedic astrology with the Sidereal zodiac for my readings and for Letters From the Stars. A lot of astrology apps and websites use Western Tropical astrology instead.

Both systems begin with the exact same you. The same birthday. The same birth time. The same birth place. The difference is in the way the zodiac is measured.

That is why your Sun, Moon, Rising sign, or other placements can sometimes look different from what you have seen before.

♡

So please do not worry.

A different sign does not mean I received the wrong information or created the wrong chart. It simply means your birth information is being interpreted through Vedic Sidereal astrology.

✦ ✦ ✦

Think of it as the same sky with two different maps.

That is probably the easiest way I can explain Tropical and Sidereal astrology. We are looking at the same planets and the same birth moment. We are simply using a different map to understand where everything sits.

Tropical and Sidereal

What is actually different?

You really do not need to know all of the technical astrology behind this to understand your reading. But here is the simple version.

01

Tropical astrology

Tropical astrology is the system most people in the West are familiar with. Its zodiac is connected to the seasons and begins Aries at the March equinox. This is why the signs you see on many popular astrology apps are usually Tropical placements.

02

Sidereal astrology

Sidereal astrology uses a fixed star based reference for the zodiac. It accounts for the gradual shift between the seasonal zodiac and the stellar reference over time. Vedic astrology commonly uses this Sidereal approach.

Same birth. Same sky. Different way of reading the map.

A little example

You might know yourself as a Libra and see Virgo in your Vedic chart.

This is usually the part that surprises people the most.

Because the Tropical and Sidereal zodiacs use different reference points, many placements appear earlier in the zodiac when you look at a Sidereal chart.

So someone who has always known themselves as a Libra Sun in Tropical astrology might see a Virgo Sun in their Vedic chart. Someone who knows themselves as a Taurus Rising might see Aries Rising. Your Moon can shift too.

Sometimes a placement stays in the same sign. Sometimes it changes. It depends on where the planet was positioned when you were born.

☾

You do not have to choose which version of you is real.

They are two astrological frameworks looking at the same birth moment. If you are familiar with Tropical astrology, your Vedic chart can simply give you another language for understanding yourself.

The system I use

Why do I use Vedic Sidereal astrology?

I have been reading charts for years, and Vedic astrology became the system I personally felt most connected to when I wanted to understand not only someone’s personality, but also the patterns and timing unfolding in their life.

I love that it lets me look beyond one zodiac sign. I can look at your Moon. Your Rising sign. Your houses. Your planetary placements. The relationships between those planets. And the timing cycles that become especially important during different chapters of your life.

That is the part I really love. Your chart becomes less about saying, “I am this sign,” and more about seeing the whole picture.

✦

How you naturally move through the world

✦

What makes you feel emotionally safe and understood

✦

Patterns that tend to repeat in relationships

✦

Your relationship with work, purpose, money, home, and family

✦

The areas of life asking you to grow

✦

The larger timing cycles surrounding different chapters of your life

My favorite part

You are so much more than your Sun sign.

Your birth chart is like a picture of the sky at the exact moment you arrived. Looking at the whole chart gives us so much more context than one zodiac sign ever could. That is why two people with the same Sun sign can experience life in completely different ways.

What I look at

Your chart is a whole story.

When I sit down with someone’s chart, I am not looking at one placement and trying to fit their entire life into it.

I am looking at how everything connects.

☉

Your Sun can speak to your sense of self, vitality, and the way you grow into who you are.

☾

Your Moon tells me so much about your emotional world, instincts, needs, and inner experience.

✦

Your Ascendant helps describe the way you approach life and the structure of the houses in your chart.

♄

Your planets and houses add more layers around relationships, family, creativity, work, purpose, money, growth, and so much more.

⌁

Your Vedic timing periods can help us explore which themes may become more emphasized during different chapters of your life.

This is why I always encourage you not to get too stuck on a single sign. The magic is in how your chart works together as a whole.

About your Letters From the Stars

Why your monthly letter can feel so personal.

Letters From the Stars are created from your individual birth details using the same Vedic Sidereal system.

That means I am not simply looking at your Sun sign and sending everyone with the same zodiac sign the same guidance.

Your birth date, birth time, and birth place help create your individual chart. That gives me much more context for the themes being activated for you.

So you and your best friend could have the same Tropical Sun sign and still receive guidance that feels completely different.

That is exactly how it should be.

Want to go deeper?

Your monthly letter is only a little window into your chart.

If reading your letter has made you curious about the rest of your birth chart, I also offer personal readings where we can go much deeper into your placements, patterns, timing, and the questions that are most important to you right now.

Vedic astrology FAQ

Why is my zodiac sign different in my Astral by Santi reading?

Astral by Santi uses Vedic astrology with the Sidereal zodiac. Many astrology apps use Tropical astrology. Because these systems measure the zodiac differently, your Sun, Moon, Rising sign, or other placements may appear in a different sign.

Does a different sign mean my birth information was entered incorrectly?

No. If the birth date, birth time, and birth place you provided are correct, seeing different placements is completely normal when comparing Tropical and Sidereal charts.

Which system is the real one?

Tropical and Sidereal astrology are different astrological traditions with different ways of defining the zodiac. I personally use Vedic Sidereal astrology throughout my work because it is the system I connect with most deeply and use consistently in my readings.

Can I still relate to my Tropical placements?

Of course. You do not need to forget everything you have learned about yourself through Tropical astrology. You can simply approach your Vedic chart with curiosity and see what resonates with your experience.

Why does birth time matter?

Your birth time helps determine your Ascendant and the houses of your chart. Those houses give important context around areas such as relationships, home, career, family, creativity, money, and personal growth. An accurate birth time can make a reading much more specific.

What if I do not know my exact birth time?

You can still explore parts of your chart, but some placements and house interpretations may be less certain. If you can, check your birth certificate, family records, or ask a parent or relative before ordering a detailed reading.

Is Vedic astrology only about your Sun sign?

Not at all. Your Sun is only one part of the chart. I look at your Moon, Ascendant, houses, planets, relationships between placements, and important timing periods to understand the bigger picture.

What are Vedic timing periods?

Vedic astrology includes planetary timing systems often called dashas. I think of them as chapters. Different planetary themes can become more emphasized during different periods of life. They can be especially helpful when looking at why one chapter may feel completely different from another.

Which reading should I choose?

If you want to understand your chart as a whole, I recommend the Complete Birth Chart Reading with 3 Questions. If you already have a few specific things you want me to look at, the 3 Birth Chart Questions reading is probably the simpler place to start.

Your chart has so much more to say.

Your zodiac sign is only the beginning. If you have been reading your Letters From the Stars and wondering what the rest of your chart says about you, I would love to sit with it and help you understand it.
